I’m excited to share with you my honest review of the dōTERRA Essential Oil Introductory Kit that I received from Jyl Johnson Pattee, a doTERRA Wellness Advocate here in the Philippines! I received the GrowSuccess.Today PR kit last December and have been using the products since then. Today, I’m super excited to share my thoughts on the dōTERRA Essential Oil Introductory Kit!
In case you missed it, I just recently posted a review of the dōTERRA Roam Portable Diffuser over here!
Also, I wanted to let you know that you can get free dōTERRA samples and free wellness consult by visiting Jyl’s site!
I don’t know when it was exactly but I remember seeing one of my friends talk about using essential oils on Facebook and I got curious. After a quick research on how to use essential oils as a natural solution for common ailments at home, I went out and bought a diffuser and 3 bottles of EOs (Eucalyptus, Lavender, and Peppermint) and my love affair with aromatherapy began.
I have also tried scented candles and alcohol based air purifying lamps but for safety concerns, I decided to stick with essential oils. Although I still love lighting up soy wax candles once in a while, I prefer using essential oils on a regular basis.
We were still living in Cebu when I started using essential oils. We all know that air quality in the metro isn’t really ideal with the pollution and all; thus, I relied on essential oils to help improve the air quality inside the house.
Now that we’re living in Iligan, I still diffuse essential oils regularly. Although we live in a relatively remote area surrounded by lush greenery and mountains, there is a lime quarry nearby which means we have issues with airborne dust and dry air.
Aside from this, I am paranoid when it comes to dengue, so I use Lavender or Peppermint oils in my diffuser since they are natural insect repellents.
Whether it’s diffusing my favorite oil, using it as a cleaning agent or adding EOs to just about anything to help promote good health, Essential oils play a big part in my life as a homemaker.
So you can just imagine how ecstatic I was when I heard from Jyl about a possible collaboration between The Missus V Blog and Grow Success Today. I was like, “Girl, send them over!” 😀
I was like a little kid opening gifts on Christmas Day when the package was delivered. I tore the box apart! Which also explains why I do not have an unboxing video. I couldn’t wait a minute longer to see what was inside the box.
Aside the the Roam Portable Diffuser, here are some of the products that I got from Jyl.
I promise to post my review on the the rest of the products on IG so make sure you’re following me! 😉
For now, let’s talk about my favorite item from the package, shall we?
The dōTERRA Essential Oil Introductory Kit
The dōTERRA Essential Oil Introductory Kit contains three 5ml bottles of dōTERRA’s Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils – Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint.
Product Descriptions:
Lavender – The “calming” oil. It primarily helps with sleep difficulties and anxiety. Other side benefits include helping with bug bites, wounds, and acne.
Lemon – The “cleansing” oil. It is used for detoxing internal systems and cleansing the air and surfaces at home.
Peppermint – The”cooling” oil. It boosts energy and focus and has anti-inflammatory properties.
What I love about this kit?
It contains the perfect EOs for someone who is just starting out. Each has a lot of uses and you can create your own blend using any of the three to harness more benefits.
Natural and Therapeutic Grade ensuring that you are using the most effective and safe essential oils.
Potency is superb. Even if I use the teeny weeny Roam Portable Diffuser with just a couple of drops of essential oil, it can already envelope our room with its aromatic and spa-like scent. *Insert a deep, and satisfied sigh over here. This means, a few drops can go a long way.
You can get the dōTERRA A-Z guide on Essential Oil Usage for “what to use on what”, “how much to use”, and “how often to use” information.
How I use dōTERRA Essential Oils at Home:
- I diffuse peppermint oil almost everyday. My kids are both asthmatic so I can get paranoid if they start sneezing or complain about stuffy nose because a nasal drip (based on experience), if not attended to right away, can lead to a full blown asthma attack. However, diffusing peppermint and/or lemon oil at night helps them wake up feeling so much better.
- I use lemon oil mostly for household cleaning. I add it to my dish washing liquid for better cleaning, I also add a few drops to a glass of water ( I sometimes add Peppermint because I love the smell!) and use it as a cleaning spray (which I use to clean counter tops, table, and floor). I even add a drop or two to my drinking water whenever I feel like I’m coming down with something. Please note though that although approval in the Philippines is still in the works, this is FDA approved in the US for internal use. Check with your health practitioner to be sure!
- When we were still in Cebu, Lavender was my favorite EO because I had trouble sleeping then. Since I don’t have that problem here anymore (hallelujah!), I mainly use Lavender for insect bites and such. I also added a few drops of Lavender to my favorite shampoo because it is said that it helps promote hair growth.
Is it worth my money???
I want to address the fact that the first thing I hear from friends and family when I tell them I’m currently using dōTERRA is “OMG, they’re so expensive!”. True. dōTERRA EOs can be a bit pricey if you compare them to EOs you can find in malls. My answer is simple- we get what we pay for.
It is very important to note the following:
- dōTERRA Essential Oils are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade when it comes to purity and potency.
- It’s a company that gives back through Healing Hands
- Fairly traded, sourced from all over the world and farmers are paid a fair and living wage.
How much is the Introductory Kit here in the Philippines?
Retails at PhP1,750 but you can get it wholesale at PhP1,300 by becoming a member here.
Overall, I am very happy with the product my dōTERRA Introductory Kit. So many uses for just 3 EOs! I’m looking at the A-Z Guide and I see so many other ways to use them that I haven’t tried yet. Don’t worry, I’ll update you on IG!
I also received the doTERRA Keychain With (8 Vials) – a doTERRA branded key chain that allows you to easily bring your favorite oils with you wherever you go. Comes with 8, empty, amber 5/8 dram vials, 8 orifice reducers, and 8 black caps. To be honest, I haven’t had the chance to use this yet because I don’t go anywhere. LOL But I know this will be great for those travel a lot!
How about you? Have you tried dōTERRA Essential Oils? What’s your favorite! If you have additional tips, make sure to leave them in the comments so I can also try them out!
