It was a day somewhere in between new year’s day and first work day of the year when my husband and I decided to take the kids out and have a mini family day at Fort San Pedro, Cebu. We wanted to squeeze in some adventure time with the kids before Christmas vacation ended and Fort San Pedro has always been a favorite of ours so off we went!
It was also a perfect time for me to try my new Pråper-White Gaston Luga Backpack! I received my backpack from Gaston Luga a couple of days after Christmas and I had been itching to use it!
We went to Basilica del Santo Niño first for a Sinulog and to give thanks for all the blessings that we received throughout the year, After that, we proceeded to Magellan’s Cross where my 6 year-old daughter took interest on the paintings on the ceiling of the crypt.
After answering all her questions about Ferdinand Magellan’s arrival, we started walking downtown towards Plaza Independencia where Fort San Pedro is located.
After about 15 minutes of walking and listening to my kids bickering at each other, we finally arrived at the fort! We paid 30php each at the reception area (the 6 year-old got in for free!) and started our way around the Spanish military defense structure or what’s left of it anyway. It now serves as a museum that houses Spanish artifacts. A great family destination if you want to teach your kids the history of Cebu and the Philippines.
There it is!
We also went inside the Vivienda del Teniente (living quarters of the lieutenant of the fort) which now serves as gallery of old Cebu photos.
And my daughter found a cat which she wanted to bring home with us!
We had fun touring around the fort and thankfully, my Gaston Luga backpack allowed me to run around with the kids without worrying about our stuff. You know how outing with kids can be, right? So many things to bring with you! Snacks, towels, first aid kid, water, extra clothes, your entire life, and more snacks!
Here are some of its very useful features:
– Strong durable canvas
– Expandable metal hook closure
– Inner 13-15″ laptop compartment
– 2 smaller inner pockets
– Passport pocket
– Adjustable shoulder straps
– Leather address tag (to be purchased separately)
And because everything fit perfectly inside, my hands we’re free to hold hands and take photos of the place. These blog photos were taken by my husband by the way. That explains his absence from the pictures. Sorry, babe!
My husband was able to capture my “can we sit down for a minute, my legs are killing me!” look. LOL
Finally, my kids allowed me few minutes of “old woman” time and just let me sit there to catch my breathe. And my daughter thoughtfully placed a flower on my hair. Never mind that she just picked it up from the ground and was covered in dirt. She even picked up all the flowers that she saw on the ground and brought them home! Our house smelled like Kalachuchi that night!
This was taken at one of the 3 watch towers in the fort and if you will look close enough, you will see a glimpse of my Instagram husband somewhere. Did you find him? 😉
A family day at Fort San Pedro, which is a mere 30 minutes away from our house was all it took to make a memorable day with the kids! Look at that happy smile!
And what makes me happy? To see my kids smile and have fun! That’s what! And my new Gaston Luga Backpack, of course! Love that it’s so versatile! With it’s elegant and timeless design, I can use this for family outings like this, to chic blogging events, and I can even use this as an office bag!
Who said mommies need to drag chunky and unfashionable bags. Moms can be trendy too! Trendy but effective and useful that is!
And if you travel a lot, this would be a perfect companion because of the unique Gaston Luga pocket on the back which can safely hold your passport, travel documents or other important belongings that need to be kept safe yet easy accessible. Under the backpack are four metallic feet, giving the backpack the extra protection if you need to put it down on the ground.
Like the Pråper-White, too? Then I have good news for you! Gaston Luga is giving 20% off tax rebate (for non-EU customers) + 15 % off with my unique code THEMISSUSV15 on the remaining price after tax rebate. They also have a limited time offer – a free leather address tag worth 50 USD with any purchase while supplies last…all together this is a HUGE discount!
Here’s an an example of the price difference before and after a 15% coupon code is applied in addition to the 20% rebate.
Huge savings!
Check them on Instagram and on their website to see their other beautiful designs!
