My daughter is a crafter, she learned how to use a pair of scissors long before she learned how to hold a pencil properly. She can spend hours making cards, paper flowers, and lately, she has been asking that I teach her how to use the sewing machine!
According to to Albert Einstein, the true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination, so we fuel her imagination with lots of art materials and we let her join crafting workshops whenever possible. We have joined Bento Making Workshop in the past, and since she has a wide range of interest when it comes to arts, she enjoyed that one too!
Lately though, she has been very interested in making paper flowers and sticking them on our walls that when The Joint: Craft and Meeting House offered us a workshop, we jumped at the opportunity and I’m glad we went because my daughter had so much fun!
Highlight of her day was definitely using the glue gun! Hahaha!
Paper Flower Bouquet Workshop at The Joint: Craft and Meeting House
Mai Madelle, owner and the woman behind the concept store welcomed us with a quick background of how she came up with the shop after working as a professional nurse abroad. I was so inspired by her story because I have had this dream of running a clothing shop in the near future for quite some time now!
But I digress, let’s go back to the flower bouquet making.
Since we were newbies, we used pre-cut papers which really made it easier for us. But when I say easier, it entailed 3 hours for me to finish 3 paper flowers. Not even enough to make a bouquet! My daughter was more productive than I was!
Aside from paper flower bouquet making, Mai wants The Joint to be a one stop shop for all crafting enthusiasts that they also offer other workshops.
- Polymer Clay Workshop for Beginners
- Essential Oil Workshop
- Die-Cutting & Dry Embossing Workshop
- Watercolor Freeform Florals Workshop
- Brush Calligraphy Workshop
You may contact them directly if you wish to enroll. Tell them I sent yah!
The Joint also serves as an exhibit area for other vendors and partners. It truly is a one stop not just for crafters but also for events and party needs!
There’s also a coffee shop inside so no need to worry about where to get snacks and caffeine fix while crafting! They serve cupcakes, cakes, and pizza! They also retail Silly Boy products including the flagship and bestseller hot sauces: Original and Garlic. My husband loved the Garlic variant!
Overall, we had fun and it was a great bonding experience for my daughter and I. Only problem now is that she is asking for more crafting materials. Oh, well. 🙂
