Thinking about where to stay in Cebu? I highly recommend Marco Polo Plaza in Nivel Hills, Cebu City. My family and I had the chance to stay in this luxury business hotel last April to celebrate my 38th birthday and we had a beautiful family staycation!
I was just lucky that my open letter to my husband won the hotel’s Love Letter Writing Contest last February where the prize was a 6-course Valentine’s Day dinner at Marco Polo Plaza’s Blu Bar & Grill (my husband and I had a wonderful time!) and a gift certificate for an overnight stay.
We decided to book the hotel stay at a later date because we wanted to bring the kids with us and I am so glad that we did because they had a blast so I decided to share our experience over here.
Just so you know, it took us more than 10 minutes to get both kids to sit still for this family photo! Ugh.
While the Mister V and I tried to have cute couples photos, the little girl decided to photobomb us. Love it like this, anyway. That’s marriage right there!
Here’s the Mister V who tried to get our son to dab but our 12 year-old wasn’t having any of his foolishness. LOL
With a huge window overlooking the city, there was plenty of natural light coming into the room. Instagrammable. I know. LOL
FYI, I had nothing in my cup. I just wanted to have my photo taken by the window and the cup looked like a perfect prop. Ha!
The suite was HUGE! A 645 square foot studio-type with a mini living room and a large bathroom. Plenty of space for the kids to play around. They also had an extra bed ready since I requested for one when I booked our stay.
I was not able to take photos of the entire bathroom but here’s a photo of my feet when I finally had the chance to enjoy a warm bath. LOL
Our little Madame lounging on the bed while waiting for her snacks.
We stepped out of the room shortly after we checked in to go swimming and I was pleasantly surprised to see a welcome note and fruits on the coffee table when we got back. It was a simple gesture but totally appreciated.
One thing that made the kids really excited about the staycation was the pool. I have tadpoles for kids so needless to say, we spent most of the time swimming.
If you love coffee as much as I do, then you will enjoy the the Continental Club. Situated at the top floor, you can enjoy complimentary coffee and tea throughout the day as well as complimentary cocktails and finger foods while enjoying a panoramic view
After a full afternoon of swimming, walking around and dinner, my husband and I were ready to hit the sack when we got back to the room but the kids were still full of energy. My daughter stayed up late to watch cartoons.
And my son stayed in the study to read and to play with his tab. Caught him smiling over something and I just had to take a photo.
Wasn’t able to take a lot of photos in Café Marco where we had breakfast because the kids were in a hurry to finish eating so they could take a dip again in the pool before we checked out. There were a lot of dishes to choose from. They had Chinese and Japanese stations as well as a salad bar. They also had our usual Pinoy breakfast faves and a dessert bar. The kids had cereal and bacon, my husband had doughnuts and I went straight for the sushi rolls because why not?
After breakfast, we went straight to the pool for a cold early morning swim. See that kid below? Took me 20 minutes to make her stop crying. She didn’t want to go home and it took me a lot of patience and promises before she finally calmed down and agreed to go back up to our room to prepare for checkout.
My daughter is very expressive of her feelings and I knew that she really enjoyed our staycation in Marco Polo when she asked if she could draw on the stationery so she could leave it for the people (staff) in the hotel. Those are her self-portraits, smiling because she had fun. ♥
Thanks, Marco Polo Plaza!
